Halfway There: Pregnant with my third baby

Hey friends,

I thought I’d share a little update on how this third pregnancy has been going—because wow, every one really is different! This one definitely started off a bit rockier than my first two. I had more nausea and vomiting in the first trimester than I ever did before. Not fun. But thankfully, once I got through those early weeks, things smoothed out, and I’ve been feeling pretty great since then—no real aches or pains to complain about (which I’m super grateful for!).

What really blew my mind this time around was how early I started noticing round ligament pain—like, as early as five weeks when I’d sneeze or cough. It's like my body was like "Yup, I know what I'm supposed to do." The female body truly never ceases to amaze me... or surprise me!

I was really consistent with my strength training during the first trimester and had every intention of keeping that momentum going. But, as life goes—currently living at my parents’ place during a full-blown house renovation, juggling work, and chasing after my two boys—my routine fell to the wayside. I miss it, and I’m seriously itching to get back to moving my body consistently again.

On the pelvic floor front, this pregnancy brought back a few old symptoms I had worked hard to overcome after my second. Stress incontinence had been a struggle postpartum, but I’d made a lot of progress rehabbing and felt strong again. That said, around the beginning of my second trimester, I started noticing some leaking again—sneezing, long days, even carrying my son while getting up off the floor can trigger it. It’s not the most glamorous part of pregnancy, but it’s real.

I’ve got my first pelvic floor PT session with Dr. Daniella this week and honestly, I’m excited. It feels good to carve out that hour a week just for me. My goal for the second half of this pregnancy is to prioritize pelvic floor physical therapy and get back to strength training at least twice a week. Putting it here is my way of keeping myself accountable—so feel free to check in on me!

Also coming up: my gestational diabetes test. Wish me luck! And if you have any golden tips for squeezing in workouts while parenting two wild ones and working full-time, please send them my way. I’ll take all the help I can get.

Planning to pop back in with an update in a few weeks—ideally reporting back on how consistent I’ve been and how I’m feeling as I wrap up the second trimester.

Thanks for being here with me on this ride. 💛

Amanda
