Third Trimester, Here We Go!

Hey friends,
I’m officially in the third trimester and wanted to check in with a little update on how things have been going since I last wrote. I’m happy to say—I’m still feeling really great overall!
I had my pelvic floor PT session with Dr. Daniella recently, and it was just what I needed. Not only did she take care of my body with some hands-on work like stretching, cupping, and alignment techniques, but she also gave me such helpful reminders for this phase of pregnancy.
Some of them being:
She encouraged me to stay active: We went over specific exercises I should be focusing on during this phase in my pregnancy based on weaknesses she found
She reminded me to be mindful of body mechanics: She demonstrated specific movements like hinging to pick up my one year old, stance when dishwashing to avoid lower back pain, kneeling posture when bathing the boys, and the best way to go about pulling my son out of the crib.
She also gave me some tips on how to avoid straining my pelvic floor
Lastly, we went over a warm up sequence to my workouts that I can incorporate in order to sneak some pelvic floor strengthening into my routine.
I’ve finally hit a rhythm with movement again! I’ve been walking and strength training about 3–4 times a week, which feels so good. That said, I did get hit with a nasty cold that came with a brutal, lingering cough for a couple of weeks. It really challenged my pelvic floor, and I definitely felt the effects. It was frustrating, but I had to take my own advice—ride the wave, give my body grace, and trust in its ability to recover. And sure enough, a few days after the cough cleared, the stress incontinence went away, too. Muscle memory really is amazing- and I believe the pelvic floor strengthening I’ve just recently incorporated really helped in my swift recovery.
As I look ahead to the rest of the third trimester, I’m shifting my goals a bit. I still want to keep up with strength training, but I’m also planning to add in more breathwork and mobility-focused movement. I’d also love to book a few more pelvic floor PT sessions before baby arrives—it’s such a great way to stay connected to my body and keep everything feeling supported.
Oh—and in true third-time mom fashion, I haven’t even started organizing baby stuff yet. I really need to make sure I have all the essentials ready to go. I also realized I was supposed to register at the hospital between 24–27 weeks… so that’s on my to-do list now too!
I’ll check back in with another update sometime mid-third trimester. Thanks for following along and being part of this journey with me. As always, if you’re going through pregnancy too—whether it’s your first or your fifth—just know you’re not alone in the ups, downs, and everything in between.
See you soon 💛
