Why Pregnancy Isn’t About Perfection and Why Your Changing Body Deserves Compassion

I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my third baby, managing a physical therapy clinic with my cousin, and chasing after two little boys. This pregnancy has stretched me—physically, emotionally, logistically, and that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do.

There’s a lot of pressure on pregnant women to “do it right.” We’re told to gain just the right amount of weight, eat only the most nutrient-dense foods, stay active (but not too active), and somehow keep it all together without showing too many signs of change. It’s a lot, and it’s exhausting.
As a pelvic floor physical therapist, I see it all the time: women doing their best and still feeling like they’re falling short. They’re overwhelmed by food rules, worried they’ve gained too much or not enough, and constantly bombarded by opinions about what a “healthy” pregnancy should look like. And when their bodies start to soften, swell, or shift, they wonder if they’re doing something wrong.
But here’s the truth: your body is supposed to change. It’s not just growing a baby—it’s expanding, adapting, and preparing to bring life into the world. That process isn’t always neat or pretty, but it’s powerful. And it’s deeply personal.
This time around, I’m choosing to let go of perfection. I’m focusing on nourishment over restriction, rest over guilt, and grace over pressure. I’m allowing my body to do what it knows how to do, even when that means I don’t fit the mold of what pregnancy is supposed to look like.
If you’re pregnant and feeling unsure, stretched thin, or just tired of all the noise—I see you. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re doing something incredibly right.
